Subject: Loading CD on HD > Doreen

Maurice (m@azstarnet.net)
April 25, 1998 (8:17 AM PDT)

Hi Doreen, what you describe could be due to only one thing: the line CDPath=C:\CDIMAGE missing in PMW.INI. Maybe when you opened PMW.INI and changed the font, somehow you did something to that line? Please check it out. It tells the program NOT to look in the CD-drive but in C:\CDIMAGE for the program. (of course, if CDIMAGE is installed on another drive, subsitute that letter) Maurice.

Hi, Everyone. I hope someone can help me with this....I am creating business cards but would like to number them in the corner. I have worked on this for a long time and can't figure out how to get any numbers on the cards. If you create one of them, the whole sheet comes out with the same number on it. Anyone have any suggestions?????????

Subject: Address labels & Cards > Sundae

Maurice (m@azstarnet.net)
April 25, 1998 (9:18 AM PDT)

Hi Sundae, I found this in my archives and I think it applies to your case: It is possible to print multiple labels at one time, each one with different information by using the Address book feature. First you will need to put all of your information into the Address book. Then what you will do is create a "dummy" label using only fill in fields. To do this, start as you would normally to create a new label. Choose the label type and add the designs you wish. When you are ready to add the text, choose "add a text box," and then "type and edit text." Now choose "add fill in fields." Select the fill in fields you wish to use, for example "First Name" "Last Name," "Number" etc. Eventually your text box will look something like this: "First Name?" "Last Name?" "Address 1 ?" "City ?" "State ?" "Zip ?" "Number" with each fill in field in the proper position on your label. When you have arranged your text box as you wish it to look when it prints, choose the "fill in fields" button. This will allow you to choose "receiver group" under "Address." You will now see your address book. Select the entries you wish to print, then click "close" and "okay." you will now see the information from the first entry on your label. When you choose "print label," you will now be able to print one label per address book entry you have chosen. Maurice.

Subject: Maurice - Numbering of cards.....

Hi, Maurice. Thanks for the response but, unfortunately, I still can't get it to work. When I do what you suggested, I still get one page of business cards per address page in my address book. So when I number them one to ten, I get ten cards with #1 on them, and ten cards with #2 on them, etc. Any other suggestions???

Do everything as Maurice said, but when you go to print and it says Number of Labels enter the number 1 (one). I have been trying this out. I have 10 lovely pages with little numbers on them, but when I chose Number of Labels 1 I got one page with 10 numbered labels on it. Well, I have plenty of scrap paper for awhile.

For those of you who enjoyed the Mars site Jill posted, you might be interested in this site about the US space shuttle. When the shuttle is flying (as it is now) you can find out exactly where it is in orbit, and what is planned for the days activities. See this site http://shuttle.nasa.gov/index.html/ and go to the "realtime data"-"tracking displays". It's an interesting site. Jon

Subject: PrintMaster Platinum/Premier/Gold Documentation

Many folks have asked about the documentation shipped with the above products. The manual in all cases is titled "PrintMaster Gold". However, some purchasers of PrintMaster Platinum (most notable, those that did *not* purchase directly from MindScape) also received an 865 page book entitled "PrintMaster Platimum Image Index". If you purchased Platinum from MindScape and did not receive this book, I would call them up and complaing. Michael

Premier has less than Platinum. Gold has 30,000+ graphics, 5,400+ photos, 4,000+ templates. All versions receive the PrintMaster Gold user manual. Michael

Subject: converting cards from one size to another

Lynn Campbell Behnke (Alambil@aol.com)
May 05, 1998 (7:04 PM PDT)

...1/4 fold cards and 1/2 fold cards can be interchanged without too much difficulty. Did you know that you can have three documents open at the same time. ... Anyway, open the project you like, and open a brand new card of the type you wish to create. In the existing card click on Edit and Select All. (Be sure you're not within a text box when you do this, or you'll just get all the text.) Then click on the same page of the brand new blank card and click Edit and Paste. Go through copying all items from the inside left of the existing card to the inside left of the new card etc. When you're finished, save your new card with a title of your choice. Lynn

Subject: scrambled text

Doug (douge255@aol.com)
May 06, 1998 (5:31 PM PDT)

...After creating and even saving pages of a newsletter,I leave Printmaster and return later only to find some pages have completely changed. The line spacing, fonts, even text size have changed. The only way I have found to correct them is to change the size of the text box slightly. Shouldn't have to do that all the time though. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Lynn Campbell Behnke (Alambil@aol.com)
May 06, 1998 (8:36 PM PDT)

The scrambled text phenomenon is a function of low resources. It is especially bad for me in long documents, but can happen even in one pagers if I have a bunch of other stuff open or it's been a while since I rebooted. The easiest (but not permanent) way to fix it is just to grab the text box and move it over a bit. You can then click on Undo so it goes right back. Lynn (That was the tech's suggestion.)

Subject: How to save your project files if you have to un-install PrintMaster

From Maurice

To saveguard all your project files, before you un-install PMP, do as follows:

Click on MY COMPUTER. Click on C: drive. Click on the yellow PMW folder. Click on the yellow USER000 folder. Click on the yellow PROJECTS folder.

You will now see all your project files. They end in SIG,(poster) NWS,(newsletter) CAR,(1/4 fold card) HCR,(half fold card) BAN, (Banner) and so on.

Now we are going to open C:\TEMP as the directory (folder) to put all those files in. Click on C:\ drive. Note that there is a yellow folder TEMP.

Now hold down the CNTRL key while you click on the first project file. The file name will become highlighted. Hold the CNTRL key and hold the mouse button. Drag the file name to the TEMP folder and release the mouse button there. That copies the first file to C:\TEMP.

Do the same will all the other files. When finished, double click on the yellow TEMP folder and see if all the files are there. If not all, copy the missing ones.

Now un-install PMP. Re-install PMP, preferrably in a different directory, like C:\PMW4P.

When done, do the same manoeuver as above, but copy the files from C:\TEMP to C:\PMW4P\USER000\PROJECTS.

When you open the newly installed PMP it should pick up all your projects. If not, click on OPEN FROM DISK and browse for C:\PMW4P\USER000\PROJECTS\ and import each project separately; then, when you see it is still intact, FILE and SAVE AS. Make sure to click each time on ADD PICTURES TO PROJECT.

-------------------------------------------------------------

An alternate method is to use DOS to copy all the files back and forth.

Click on START and DOS PROMPT.

When you see the C:>WINDOWS prompt, type COPY C:\PMW\USER000\PROJECTS\*.*(leave a space here) C:\TEMP and press the ENTER key. That copies all the files to C:\TEMP. Type EXIT to bring you back to Windows.

Now, after un-installing and re-installing in C:\PMW4P, click again on START and the DOS PROMPT.

This time type COPY C:\TEMP\*.* (leave a space here) C:\PMW4P\USER000\PROJECTS and press the ENTER key.

Now all the files are in place in the newly installed PMP. Do the same as explained above.

Subject: Restore Help PM7 on Win98

Message:
Okay, Here it is at last. If you have PM 7.0 on a Win 98 or IE 5.0 machine and your help file is missing you can try this. It worked for me. Extract the file hhctrl.ocx from your INSTALL CD - INSTALL ME and ME ONLY. (Mine is yellow.) It is located in this directory. [Ie3240e\Ie4 s4.cab\IE4 4.cab\hhctrl.ocx]. Copy this file to your Printmaster directory. Mine is like this - C:\Program Files\Mindscape\Printmaster. (This also works for American Greetings Spiritual Expression v 1.0) The file version of hhctrl.ocx that works is 4.72.7290. Now when PM7 opens it will use this file instead of your WIN98 file. Now you have help for all!!
